We are extremely privileged to have a satellite provision, based at The Orchard on the Lytchett Minster School site, open in September 2024
What is satellite provision?
In very simple terms, we ‘rent’ accommodation at another educational site. The pupils and staff within the satellite are The Forum Centre (TFC) pupils and staff.
-
The curriculum offer aligns across TFC.
-
Staff receive the same training and have the same development opportunities.
-
Pupils enjoy the same opportunities across the school.
-
Transport is still available, within Dorset Council stipulations
So why have satellite provision?
Fundamentally, it means that we can admit more children to the school and therefore enable more children to receive support from TFC
Who attends the satellite provision?
-
All pupils must be referred through an admittance panel, supported by a range of professionals.
-
The majority of pupils are referred for medical reasons, some will have an EHCP.
-
Pupils aged between 7 and 16
-
Pupils who are identified as being ready to access a mainstream curriculum.
We have the capacity for 5 classes at The Orchard. We have 2 classes of KS2 pupils. Both classes follow the National curriculum with enhanced social learning opportunities in small, supportive groups.
We also have 3 secondary classes. The pupils in KS3 follow the National curriculum and focus on developing the key skills necessary to successfully reintegrate back into mainstream school. KS4 have the opportunity to access a GCSE programme, alongside mentoring.
